St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick's Day is almost here, and, along with it, some Americans will be celebrating their Irish heritage. The Florida Irish Festival will be held Friday, March 15, through Sunday, March 17, in Casselberry, Fla. The festival will be highlighted by more than 100 Irish and Irish-American musicians, ranging in style from bluegrass to rock to folk to traditional Irish music on handcrafted instruments. Among the performers will be the 97th Regiment String Band, a Civil-War-garbed folk trio. And to round the weekend out will be plenty of barbecue and fish and chips, beer, a nationwide Gaelic football tournament, dance lessons and a Sunday morning Mass. Call (800) 322-3746 for reservations and information.

If you or someone close to you has chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, you know how difficult travel can be. But travel can be an important part of life, whether for business or recreation, and a medical problem should not keep one at home. Dr. Harold M. Silver has released the second edition of "Travel for the Patient with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease." The guide includes tips about medication, oxygen, climate, altitude, ground and air transportation, food and drink, jet lag, exercise and more. Dr. Silver does stress that the booklet should always be used along with the advice of your physician. Send $5 for each book to: Harold M. Silver, M.D., P.C.; 8029 Herb Farm Drive; Bethesda, Md. 20817.
