Morgan State turns back N.C. A&T Lucas leads Navy over Colgate, 60-57

Rasheed Sparks scored 17 points to lead Morgan State to a 77-74 victory over host North Carolina A&T in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game last night. Three other Bears scored in double figures.

Morgan State (6-17, 5-7) forced 24 turnovers. The Bears ran out to a 45-39 halftime lead, hitting 18 of their first 32 shots (56 percent).

Jamel Grey led the Aggies (8-12, 6-5) with 17 points.

* Navy 60, Colgate 57: Eddie Lucas scored 18 points to lead Navy (12-11, 7-3) to a victory over host Colgate in a Patriot League game. Adonal Foyle had 17 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks for the Red Raiders (10-14, 6-3). Eddie Lucas made only three of six shots, but made all 10 of his free throws.

Navy shot 32 percent (16 of 50) and missed 16 of its 21 shots in the second half.

* Johns Hopkins 65, Western Maryland 53: Matt Gorman recorded career highs in both points (23) and rebounds (16) to help lead Johns Hopkins (12-11, 5-7) to a 65-53 Centennial Conference win over Western Maryland (4-19, 2-10). Hopkins shot 52 percent for the game and out-rebounded the Green Terror, 46-30.

* Washington College 78, Haverford 69: Derek Cuff led all scorers with 23 points to help Washington College (8-15, 3-9) upset visiting Haverford (14-8, 8-4) in a Centennial Conference game at Cain Center. Washington shot 68 percent from the field in the second half.
