Body of woman found near road is identified

February 15, 1996

A woman found dead along a wooded path off Edgewood Road on Annapolis Neck Peninsula was identified through fingerprints yesterday as Katherine Elizabeth Brodie, a Florida woman reported missing Dec. 22, city police said.

An autopsy determined that Ms. Brodie, 34, who had been staying with a boyfriend in Annapolis, was stabbed to death with a sharp object, said Capt. John W. Wright, an Annapolis police spokesman.

"We have no motive and no suspects yet," Captain Wright said.

Police said Ms. Brodie was reported missing by her boyfriend, Frederick D. Chew III of the 7100 block of Bay Front Road.

Ms. Brodie's fully clothed body was found Monday face-down in tall reeds near several commercial buildings in the 7400 block of Edgewood Road by children playing, police said.

The children saw the body about 6:20 p.m. and told their parents, who called police, Captain Wright said.

The body might have been there for a month or two, police said.
