Man arrested in theft of hat from Macy's

A Glen Burnie man was arrested Tuesday and charged with stealing a $32 hat from Macy's at Marley Station, county police said.

Daniel Warren Shipley, 18, of the 1900 block of Maltravers Road was charged with theft.

Dennis Wenk, a security guard for the store, told police he saw a man go to a hat display about 1:30 p.m., take one, remove the tags and hide it in his clothes.

When the man walked out of the store without paying for the merchandise, Mr. Wenk stopped him and held him for police.

Man robbed of $85 outside convenience store

A Baltimore County man was robbed of $85 Tuesday as he was relieving himself behind a convenience store, county police said.

Robert K. Heffler, 35, of the 2700 block of Yarnall Road told police he drove to the Foods R In convenience store in the 2700 block of Crain Highway about 7:30 p.m. Before he went into the store, he walked to the back of the building where an unarmed man approached him and demanded money, police said. Mr. Heffler complied and the man ran away, police said. Mr. Heffler was not injured.

Couple arrested in theft of videos from Price Club

Police arrested a Glen Burnie woman and a Baltimore man Sunday and charged them with stealing more than $138 in videotapes and merchandise from the Glen Burnie Price Club.

Kimberly Ann Duvall, 35, of the 200 block of West Meadow Road, and Michael Jay Griffith, 34, of the 1800 block of McHenry St., were charged with theft.

Charles T. Downey, a security guard for the store in the 500 block of Ordinance Road, told police he saw a couple put several tapes into their coats about 1:45 p.m. and run from the store

without paying for the merchandise, police said.

Police found a couple fitting the suspects' description running on Rapid Water Way shortly after the theft and returned them to the store, where Mr. Downey identified them, police said.
