Man flees police, leaves ID behind

February 13, 1996

Police don't expect to have too much trouble finding the Glen Burnie man they say ran from them Friday after officers arrested two passengers in his car on drug charges: He left his identification behind.

David A. Jennings, 19, of the 200 block of Bertram Circle, and Malia P. Johnson-Miller, 20, of the unit block of East Joyce Lane, were charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Charges are pending against the driver who ran away, police said.

Officer Max Weinstein and Cpl. Michael Belcher stopped a car for a traffic violation at Shirley Murphy Court and Whitaker Road in Freetown shortly after 11:30 p.m. The driver of the car pulled over, jumped out and ran, police said.

Officers chased the man but were unable to catch him, police said. They returned to the car, searched it and found materials commonly used to package cocaine as well as a large amount of what later tested positive for marijuana. They also found the driver's identification, the report said.
