Woman's body found by children playing in woods

February 13, 1996|By FROM STAFF REPORTS

Annapolis police were investigating the death of a woman whose body was found last night by children playing in woods on the Annapolis Neck Peninsula.

The body of the woman, described as white and in her mid-30s, was lying face down in tall reeds near several commercial buildings in the 7400 block of Edgewood Road, said Capt. John Wright, an Annapolis police spokesman. He said the children spotted the body about 6:20 p.m. and told their parents, who called police.

The body was fully clothed and may have been there for one to two months, Captain Wright said. He said there were no visible signs of foul play, although police last night were investigating the death as a homicide and an autopsy was planned.

The body has been identified, but police would not release the woman's name until her family was notified.
