Library to offer crafts, stories for children on Valentine's Day

THE Brooklyn Park library at 1 E. 11th Ave. has scheduled a Valentine's Storytime at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Children ages 2 through 6 are invited to celebrate Valentine's Day with stories, poems and a craft. Come and join in the fun.

Homemade food for sale

What could be better in this cold weather than hot homemade soup and baked potatoes? The St. John's Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America will sponsor a soup and baked potato sale from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church, 226 Washburn Ave. A variety of homemade soups, baked potatoes with toppings and desserts will be sold. Carryouts will be available from noon until 2 p.m.

Prices are: soup and bread, $1.50; baked potato, $1 to $2; beverage, 25 cents; and desserts, 25 cents to 75 cents.

Celebrate computer lab

Brooklyn Park Elementary School invites parents and neighbors to the ribbon-cutting for its new computer lab at 10 a.m. Thursday. Volunteers and local businesses worked together to make the lab a reality.

Computer classes will become a regular part of every student's schedule.

Band is selling pizzas

North County High School Band members are selling Joe Corbi Pizza Kits and cold cut subs. Each kit contains ingredients for three pizzas and may be purchased with sausage or pepperoni. Whole wheat, white pizza, pizza dessert kits and cheese bread are available.

Lacrosse registration

The Brooklyn Park Broncos Youth Group will accept registration for its lacrosse program from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Northern District Police Station on Hammonds Lane. Boys ages 8 to 12 are invited to play on the peewee league (8-10) or midget league (10-12). Girls and boys ages 5-7 are invited to sign up for an instructional clinic. Ages are determined as of Dec. 31, 1995. Registration fees are $45 per child for the teams and $25 per child for the clinic. For more information, contact Walt Blahut at 859-8456.

Sports registration

Softball, baseball and T-ball registration continues with the Brooklyn Park Youth Athletic Association. Registration will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Feb. 24, and noon to 3 p.m. Sunday and Feb. 25 in the cafeteria at Brooklyn Park Elementary School.
