Centennial upsets Hammond for the second time this week Lloyd scores 42 points in Southwestern victory

Denny Chapman scored 11 of his game-high 17 points in the first quarter and host Centennial upset No. 12 Hammond for the second time this week, 52-45, last night.

Centennial (14-3, 9-1) also beat Hammond Tuesday, 43-40, and Hammond (12-6, 6-4) lost to Mount Hebron, 52-50, Thursday to go 0-3 for the week after starting the week in a three-way tie for first-pace with Centennial and Atholton.

* Southern-B 95, Mervo 47: Dedric Galloway scored 29 to lead five Bulldogs' scorers in double figures as top-ranked Southern (12-2) downed host Mervo (5-8).

* Southwestern 93, Northwestern 55: Donta Lloyd scored a career-high 42 points, including 11 three-pointers, to go along with 13 rebounds and five assists to lead host and No. 3 Sabers (16-1). Reginald Johnson had 19 assists for the Sabers.

* Lake Clifton 115, Carver 50: Broderick Walker scored 25, Michael King had 18 and Dante Lemmon added 17 to lead the host and No. 7 Lakers.

* St. Maria Goretti 89, Gibbons 79: Kyle Logan scored 29 and Phil Lane contributed 25 as host Goretti downed No. 8 Gibbons. Josh Davalli led Gibbons with 19.

* Loyola 60, Towson Catholic 57: Jason Vogtman scored 25 and hit two free throws with nine seconds left to secure the win for visiting and No. 10 Loyola.

* Aberdeen 64, Bel Air 53: Tyrone Sterrette had 15 and Gabriel Neal added 13 as No. 11 Aberdeen (15-2) won at Bel Air.

* Randallstown 80, Dulaney 50: Brian Broden had 27 points for the visiting and No. 13 Rams (11-3).

* Poly 67, Mount St. Joseph 51: John McLean scored 35 to lead the host Engineers (10-3) as they upset the No. 15 Gaels (11-9).

* North County 67, Northeast 45: Cornelius Burley and Derek Booth each scored 12 for host and No. 16 North County (13-6).

* Glen Burnie 58, Old Mill 47: Desmond Dailey scored 22 to lead visiting and No. 17 Glen Burnie.

* Arundel 59, Severna Park 51: Jamell Miller scored 12 and Joe Parker and Erik Lipton added 11 apiece as No. 18 Arundel (13-6) topped host Severna Park (6-13).

* St. Paul's 62, Gilman 55: Adair Newhall scored 19 to lead No. 19 St. Paul's (13-4) past visiting Gilman (9-7). Michael Satyshur added 14 for St. Paul's.

* Southern-AA 78, South River 44: Brothers Jeff and Scott Crandell combined for 32 points for visiting and No. 20 Southern-AA.
