Clemson romps past Maryland, 70-53

Stephanie Ridgeway scored 23 points to lead No. 18 Clemson to a 70-53 victory over visiting Maryland at Littlejohn Coliseum last night. It's the first time that the Tigers (17-3, 7-3) have beaten Maryland in three consecutive meetings.

Kelley Gibson led the Terps (9-12, 3-8), scoring 13 of her 16 points in the second half. Maryland cut the lead to 47-36 with 10 minutes left, but was unable to get the advantage under 10 thereafter.

* Lafayette 51, Navy 49: A last-second three-point attempt by Navy freshman Julie Graham was blocked and visiting Lafayette (4-16, 1-7) earned its first Patriot League win.

Navy is 16-6.

* Drexel 81, Towson State 61: Jen MacNeill had game-highs of 18 points and nine rebounds to lead host Drexel (6-14, 4-9) over Towson State (5-15, 3-10) in a North Atlantic Conference game. Tanya Belair led the Tigers with 17 points and seven rebounds.

* Delaware State 68, Morgan State 53: Marin Hightower scored 24 points to lead Delaware State (12-8, 8-3 MEAC) past Morgan State (2-15, 1-9).
