Howard County officers responding to an alarm at an Elkridge construction site Sunday chased two stolen cars from the scene into Anne Arundel County, where the cars were overtaken and three people were arrested, police said.

Michael Anthony Thomas, 21, and Tobias James Beatty, 18, both of Ellicott City, and a 15-year-old girl from Dorsey were charged with auto theft.

Mr. Thomas was being held in lieu of $10,000 bail and Mr. Beatty in lieu of $5,000 bail at the Howard County Detention Center yesterday. The girl was released to the custody of her parents.

About 1:14 a.m. Sunday, patrol officers dispatched to the 6800 block of Deerpath Road, where an alarm had sounded, found a lock pried off a construction trailer, police said.

The officers spotted two cars -- both reported stolen from O'Donnell Honda in Ellicott City last week -- fleeing and chased them into Anne Arundel County.
