Man, 82, dies after car is hit at Laurel stop light

An 82-year-old Annapolis man was fatally injured Tuesday when he ran a red light on Brock Bridge Road in Laurel and his car was struck by a pickup truck driven by an Odenton man, county police said yesterday.

Winfred Alban Ross, of the the 900 block of Lanna Way, was pronounced dead at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Ferdinand Rojas Rodriguez, 55, of the 500 block of Prince Charles Ave., driver of a 1991 Dodge pickup, was treated at Shock Trauma and released yesterday morning.

Police said Mr. Ross was traveling south on Brock Bridge Road in a 1994 Ford Taurus about 10:30 a.m. when he ran a red light at Laurel Fort Meade Road and his car was hit by the pickup being driven east on Laurel Fort Meade Road by Mr. Rodriguez.
