Another drag comedy

Fresh from the folks who brought you "Vampire Lesbians of Sodom" last season, the Spotlighters Theatre will present another Charles Busch comedy in drag, "Psycho Beach Party," opening tomorrow.

Set in Malibu Beach in the early 1960s, "Psycho Beach Party" is described as a combination of "Gidget," "The Three Faces of Eve" and "Mommie Dearest." Direction is by Terry J. Long, who staged last season's Busch production, and the cast features several veterans of that show, including Bryan Dingle, Randal Hadaway and Brian Jacobs. "Jesus Christ Superstar," the now-classic musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyricist Tim Rice, continues its pilgrimage around North America with a stop at the Lyric Opera House starting Tuesday.

Ted Neeley is in the title role in this rock 'n' roll take on the biblical story of Jesus.

The musical runs Feb. 13-Feb. 18 at the Lyric Opera House. Show times are 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday; 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets range from $19 to $50. Call (410) 481-SEAT.
