Time extended for suggestions on school name

The Board of Education is extending the deadline for the submission of names for an elementary school being built in the Westminster area.

All suggestions must be submitted to the superintendent of schools, 55 N. Court St., Westminster, by Feb. 23.

The school will be located on the former Westminster Nurseries property, at the end of Center Street Extended above Cranberry Mall. Names should give recognition to the school and community.

Westminster: A resident of West Green Street reported to police Thursday that someone stole his briefcase from his car while it was parked in the driveway. He estimated his loss was $820.

Westminster: An employee of Cranberry Exxon on Route 140 told police Thursday that someone stole $20 worth of gas.

Westminster: A resident of Springfield Avenue in Sykesville reported to police Thursday that someone stole his $135 jacket from a home on East Main Street.

Westminster: A resident of East Green Street reported to police Thursday that someone stole his $150 bicycle from his back yard.

Westminster: A Western Maryland College student told police Thursday that someone cut the convertible top of her car and did $1,000 worth of damage.

Westminster: A resident of Pennsylvania Avenue reported to police Thursday that someone threw a bottle at her car and did $60 worth of damage to the driver's side mirror and window.

Westminster: A resident of Eagles Court reported to city police Wednesday that someone stole the license plate from her vehicle.

Westminster: A resident of South Church Street reported to police Wednesday that someone stole his Montgomery Ward credit card and charged items to his account. Total loss is unknown.

Westminster: A resident of West Main Street reported to police Wednesday that someone cut the top of his Suzuki Samurai and stole $310 worth of personal property and stereo equipment.

Westminster: A resident of Lower Forty Road in Hampstead told police Tuesday that someone broke into his car and stole property while the vehicle was parked at Cranberry Mall. He estimated the loss at $1,315.

Fire

Westminster: Westminster firefighters responded to an odor of gas in the 400 block of Silver Court at 9:12 a.m. Thursday. Units were out 28 minutes.
