Guilford woman is hospitalized after being hit by automobile

A Guilford woman remained hospitalized in fair condition yesterday after she was struck by a car early last week while crossing a street near her home.

Thelma Moore, 42, of the 400 block of Guilford Road was crossing Guilford Road near Ridgeview Drive shortly before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday when she was hit, said Lt. David Carroll, a spokesman for the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services.

Howard County police said the driver, Bridgete Moore, 21, of the 9200 block of Cartersville Road in Guilford was traveling south on Guilford when Ms. Moore stepped into the vehicle's path. Bridgete Moore was not charged or injured in the accident, police said.

Thelma Moore was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore by state police helicopter.
