5 vie for title in Miss Carroll scholarship competition

The Miss Carroll County Scholarship Pageant, a Miss America preliminary contest, will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at Francis Scott Key High School, Bark Hill Road, near Uniontown.

Five young women from the county are competing:

* Stephanie Lynn Linton, 17, daughter of Diann and James W. Linton Jr. of Mount Airy.

She is president of the senior class at South Carroll High School.

* Sarah Elizabeth Litz, 18, daughter of Patricia and Eugene M. Litz of Eldersburg.

She is a student at Carroll Community College pursuing a degree in communications.

* Megan Catherine Young, 19, daughter of Carolyn and Richard A. Young of Eldersburg.

She is a student at Carroll Community College pursuing a degree in communications.

* Melissa Gail Goodman, 22, daughter of Frank and Louella Goodman of Upperco.

She is a student at Catonsville Community College pursuing a degree in education. She also is an assistant teacher at Grace Bible Preschool.

* Brandy-Lynn Reese, 21, daughter of James and Sherry Reese of Westminster.

She is a student at Villa Julie College pursuing a degree in business communications.

Tickets are $8 at the door.
