James Whitmore as Justice Holmes

James Whitmore will portray Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. in Emmet Lavery's "The Magnificent Yankee" at Ford's Theatre in Washington beginning tomorrow. Whitmore stars opposite Audra Lindley, his longtime partner on stage and former partner in marriage. Direction is by Peter Hunt, who directed the couple in the same roles two decades ago.

Show times at Ford's Theatre, 511 Tenth St. N.W., Washington, are 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays (except Feb. 3, 4, 7 and 11), with matinees at 1 p.m. Thursdays (except Feb. 8) and 2 p.m. Sundays, through March 10. Tickets are $24-$36, with $5 off for preview performances before Feb. 6. Call (202) 347-4833.
