Deliveryman thwarts attack by using Mace

A Domino's Pizza deliverer used Mace to help repel three robbers who attacked him in West Columbia.

The driver was approaching a home in the 5600 block of Harper's Farm Road in Columbia's Harper's Choice village at 12:30 a.m. Monday to make a delivery, Howard County police said. Three young males grabbed the driver and searched him for money.

The victim sprayed at least one of his assailants with Mace, police said.

After a brief struggle, the robbers ran away -- with only the delivery man's bag of pizza and chicken wings. The driver was not injured.

Police said the people who live at the home said they did not call for the delivery.

One of the robbers is described as a 6-foot-3, dark-skinned black male in his late teens, with short-cropped hair and a thin build. He was wearing a thick winter coat.

Another robber is described as a 5-foot-8, dark-skinned black male in his late teens wearing a dark winter coat.

The third is described as a 5-foot-9, medium-complexioned black male in his late teens with a thin build and wearing dark clothing.
