Outlook: Junior Marc Lay got hot down the stretch, and UMBC rallied from 12 points down with 1:25 remaining in regulation to defeat Coastal Carolina in overtime, 73-67, Saturday night. The outcome moved UMBC out of last place in the Big South Conference with a 1-6 record. Senior G Tony Thompson averages 16.6 ppg. These teams split two games last season, each winning at home. Radford leads the series 8-2. The Highlanders received a career-high 28 points from senior G Jason Lansdown on Saturday night, but they lost to North Carolina-Asheville, 74-56.

Mount St. Mary's (10-6) at Wagner (6-10)

Site: Sutter Gymnasium, Staten Island, N.Y.

Outlook: The Mountaineers upset Marist on Saturday night, 61-55, improving to 6-2 in the NEC. Mount coach Jim Phelan moved into sixth place in all-time victories with 747. Senior G Chris McGuthrie reached a milestone of his own, becoming only the second player in school history to exceed 2,000 career points. Wagner is 3-5 in the NEC and coming off Saturday's 78-68 overtime loss to Monmouth. The Seahawks have lost five of their past six. They're led in scoring by sophomore swingman Dan Seigle (15.6 ppg). Senior G Tony Rice averages 12.1 ppg and 6.0 apg, and sophomore Frantz Pierre-Louis averages 12.5 ppg and 10.2 rpg. Wagner leads the series, 8-5, and has won four of the past five.

Coppin (10-7) at Howard (1-15)

Site: Burr Gymnasium, Washington

Outlook: Coppin won its seventh game in a row Saturday night, and in dramatic fashion. A layup by Reggie Welch off a pass from Allen Watson with one second left gave the Eagles a 78-77 victory over upset-minded Morgan State, extending the nation's longest home-court winning streak to 36 straight. Junior Terquin Mott (26 points) led Coppin in scoring for the sixth consecutive game, and the eighth in the past 10. Mott is averaging around 21 ppg, and Welch is at 17.8 ppg. The Eagles (7-0 in MEAC) lead the series, 14-8, and have won the past seven. Howard's last victory came in February 1992. The Bison (1-6 in MEAC) won their first game Saturday, upsetting UMES, 58-55.
