Outlook: The Capitals (22-20-5) broke a two-game losing streak with a 1-0 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Friday night, with G Jim Carey picking up his eighth career shutout and fourth of the season. Philadelphia lost at Pittsburgh yesterday, 7-4. The Caps and Flyers have met twice this season. Philadelphia won, 2-1, Oct. 11, and the teams tied 2-2 on Nov. 14. Caps C Mike Eagles (broken finger) is out, as is Flyers RW Mikael Renberg (abdominal muscle strain).
