POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Mount St. Mary's coach Jim Phelan moved into sixth place in all-time victories as a collegiate coach with 747 as the Mountaineers (10-6, 6-2) ended Marist's nine-game winning streak with a 61-55 win before a standing-room-only crowd at the McCann Center.

The Red Foxes (14-2, 8-1) suffered their first loss in the Northeast Conference and their first home loss this season.

Phelan passed former Kansas coach Phog Allen on the victory list.

Mount senior guard Chris McGuthrie achieved a milestone as well, becoming only the second player in school history to top 2,000 career points.

McGuthrie led Mount with 19 points, three assists and three steals.
