Hayden's 3-pointer lifts Mount, 76-73

HACKENSACK, N.J. -- Tony Hayden's three-point jumper with nine seconds to play lifted Mount St. Mary's to a 76-73 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson in a Northeast Conference game last night.

The Mount (9-6, 5-2) posted its first win at Fairleigh Dickinson (5-11, 4-4) since 1957, and put Mount coach Jim Phelan into a sixth-place tie all-time with his 746th career victory.

Hayden tied it at 73 off a Riley Inge inbounds pass with 46 seconds left. The Knights missed two free throws with 31 seconds left. Hayden (career-high 16 points) spotted up on the left side to make his game-winning shot.

Chris McGuthrie led the Mountaineers with 19 points, and Inge had 12 along with nine assists. Rahshon Turner's 21 points and 10 rebounds led the Knights.
