A man was abducted by an armed carjacker Wednesday as he left work in Columbia and forced to drive to Landover and withdraw money from a bank machine, Howard County police said.

Jeffrey Allan Hildenbrand, 43, of the 7300 block of Meadow Wood Way in Clarksville was not injured in the two-hour incident, police said.

About 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Mr. Hildenbrand was leaving work in the 9600 block of Gerwig Lane in Columbia's Owen Brown village when a gunman with a gray scarf covering his face ordered him to drive to Prince George's County, police said.

There, another gunman wearing a dark blue ski mask got into the car. The two directed Mr. Hildenbrand to a nearby automated teller machine, where an undisclosed amount of cash was withdrawn. The men took Mr. Hildenbrand's gold watch and some property from his car before fleeing on foot, police said.

Mr. Hildenbrand telephoned Prince George's County police, and his car was towed to Howard County, where investigators are checking it for fingerprints, police said.

Police said the victim was unable to provide a detailed description of the robbers.

Anyone with information should call Howard County police at 313-2220.
