Police end investigation of Skalsky's death

January 25, 1996

Police said they have closed their investigation into the death of Matt Skalsky, the UMBC player who died after collapsing at a New Year's Eve party.

Despite witness reports that Skalsky may have been involved in an altercation just before his death, Montgomery County police said that they have determined that no events at the party caused his death.

An autopsy report ruled the 19-year-old honor student's death to be from natural causes, brought on by an irregular heartbeat.
