Abraham's basket lifts Loyola, 64-63

JERSEY CITY, N.J. -- Nsilo Abraham's layup with 1:02 remaining lifted Loyola to a 64-63 victory over St. Peter's in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game last night. The Greyhounds (6-9, 3-2) have won five of their past seven games.

Loyola forward Anthony Smith (team-high 17 points) stole the ball from Randy Holmes with 1:19 left and the Greyhounds trailing 63-62. He then fed Abraham for the game-winning basket.

The Peacocks (10-5, 1-3) did not take another shot, committing two turnovers in the final minute.

Loyola point guard Mike Powell had a career-best eight assists. The Greyhounds made 51 percent (27 of 53) of their attempts against the Peacocks, who had held their opponents to 39 percent shooting.
