Woman pleads guilty in abuse of teen-age boy

January 19, 1996

A 24-year-old Hampstead woman, who had sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old boy, pleaded guilty to child abuse yesterday in Carroll County Circuit Court.

In exchange for the plea, prosecutors agreed to drop other charges against Victoria Michelle Eberwein, which included second-degree rape. Circuit Judge Raymond E. Beck Sr. agreed not to sentence her to more than two years in prison March 21.

According to the prosecutors' statement of facts, Eberwein became friendly with the boy's family in January 1995 when she met his mother playing pool at the House of Pasta in Hampstead. The boy, who now is 14, is not being named to protect his privacy.

Prosecutors said Eberwein began to watch the boy for his mother in the family's home. On Jan. 11, 1995, Eberwein was caring for the boy when she fondled him. Prosecutors also said she forced the boy to have intercourse with her.

Eberwein remains free on bond while the state completes a presentence investigation that will include an psychological evaluation. As a condition of her bond, Eberwein is to have no

contact with the boy or his family.
