Astros: Agreed to one-year contract with OF Derrick May (.301, 41 RBIs in 78 games) worth $750,000.

Brewers: Re-signed 1B John Jaha (.313, 20 HRs, 65 RBIs in 88 games) to $1.05 million, one-year contract.

Giants: Added P Osvaldo Fernandez to 40-man roster. Designated P Joe Rosselli for assignment.

Mets: Traded C Kelly Stinnett (.219 in 77 games) to Brewers minor-league P Cory Lidle.

Orioles: Signed IF Jeff Huson and P Alan Mills to one-year contracts and avoided arbitration with both.

Red Sox: Signed P Randy Tomlin, who has not pitched since 1994, to minor-league contract with invitation to major-league camp. Named Dave Jauss, former Orioles coordinator of minor-league instruction, advance scout, Ray Poitevint executive director of international relations and Kent Qualls coordinator of baseball operations.

Nets: Dropped lawsuit against New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority over name change from Brendan Byrne-Meadowlands Arena to Continental Airlines Arena.

Arizona: Declared basketball C Joseph Blair academically ineligible.

Alabama: Promoted receivers coach Woody McCorvey to offensive coordinator, replacing Homer Smith, who was reassigned to work on special projects under athletic director Glen Tuckett.

California: Named Tom Holmoe defensive coordinator.

Colorado: Named assistant Ricardo Patton interim head basketball coach until end of season.

Morgan State: G-F Terrence Wright quit basketball team.

Northeast Louisiana: Named Leon Burnett defensive backs coach.

Northern Illinois: Declared basketball F Jamal Robinson academically ineligible.

St. John's: Senior F Charles Minlend, who led team in rebounding last year but has not played this season because of a torn hamstring, will redshirt.

San Diego State: Dismissed Kainoa Burleigh from women's basketball team due to academic reasons.

Seton Hall: Basketball F Roger Ingraham (8.4 ppg, 5.4 rpg) is sidelined indefinitely with stress fracture of left leg.

Tennessee: Extended contract of football coach Phillip Fulmer (32-7-1) through 2000 and gave him $45,000-a-year raise.

Texas: Declared LB Dwight Kirkpatrick, LB Darrell Wilson and RB Kenny Lewis academically ineligible for spring semester and dismissed them from school.

Pro Bowl: Added Chiefs G Will Shields and Colts T Will Wolford to AFC team, replacing Oilers G Bruce Matthews (elbow) and Broncos T Gary Zimmerman.

Dolphins: Contract of defensive line coach Joe Greene won't be renewed. Fired defensive coordinator Tom Olivadotti and running backs coach Tony Nathan. Named Cary Godette defensive line coach, Pat Jones tight ends coach and Bill Lewis defense/nickel package coach. Kept defensive backs coach Mel Phillips and offensive coordinator Gary Stevens.

Hockey

Panthers: C Alexei Kudashov of AHL Carolina has left team to play with Dusseldorf in the German Elite League.

Stars: Assigned F Mike Donnelly to IHL Michigan. Activated D Craig Ludwig from injured list. Assigned C Robert Petrovicky to IHL Michigan.
