Two South County men were killed Tuesday in a head-on collision when a 1984 Dodge Ram truck plowed into a 1988 Ford Tempo on Old Southern Maryland Boulevard, county police said.

The truck, which was traveling south, crossed into the northbound lane of the two-lane road near the Calvert County line about 6:30 p.m. and struck the oncoming Ford as it crested a hill, police said.

Police said the truck driver, Bruce Alan Vincent, 41, of the 8600 block of Rue Court in Owings was trying to pass another vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The front-seat passenger in the Tempo, Gregory Kevin Sollers, 19, of Lothian was pronounced dead a short time later at Prince George's Hospital Center.

The driver of the Tempo, Michael John Lazo, 20, also of Lothian, suffered internal injuries.

He was listed in critical but stable condition yesterday at the Washington Hospital Center.

Another passenger in the car, Walter Edward Hilton, 20, of the 1200 block of Marlboro Road in Lothian suffered several fractures and was listed in critical condition at Prince George's Hospital Center.
