Gunman robs Union Bridge General Store of cash

January 16, 1996

State police are looking for information about an armed robbery at the Union Mills General Store late Saturday night.

A man entered the store about 9 p.m. and made a small purchase, police said.

After receiving his change, the man pulled out a handgun and forced two employees into a rear bathroom, they said.

Police said the man sprayed Mace at the employees, took some cash and ran from the store.

He may have escaped in a late 1980s Pontiac Firebird or Trans Am with Pennsylvania license plates, police said.

The man was described as white, 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 140 to 160 pounds.

He was wearing a denim jacket and blue jeans and may have been traveling with a white woman and an infant, police said.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Tfc. Ron Cullison of the Criminal Investigation Division at the Westminster barracks, 848-3111 or 876-2101.
