Woman charged with assaulting Hanover man

A 52-year-old Baltimore woman who reportedly brawled in the snow with a Hanover man Wednesday night and then attacked him in front of a police officer was arrested on assault charges, authorities said.

The victim, Cleveland Chandler, 66, of the 1500 block of Ridge Forest Way was not injured, police said.

Sgt. Drury E. Bishop arrived at Mr. Chandler's house about 3:30 p.m. after a neighbor called police to complain of a fight. As he pulled up, a woman drive a silver blue Toyota into the driveway. Mr. Chandler told police he and the woman had been fighting, but the woman denied it, police said.

The officer asked the woman to leave, but she walked to her car and returned several times, police said. When she finally began to leave, she continued to taunt Mr. Chandler, police said.

She then returned and told Mr. Chandler she would tell him where his briefcase was if he gave her a kiss, police said.

When Mr. Chandler walked away, the woman began to hit him on his head and shoulders, police said. Sergeant Bishop then arrested her, police said.

Evelyn P. Thaniel, 52, of the 900 block of Argonne Drive in Baltimore was charged with assault and battery. She was released yesterday on her own recognizance.

Severn: Someone threw a snowball and broke the picture window of a home in the 800 block of Lucky Road between noon and 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, county police said.
