The 1996-1997 school budget proposal will be unveiled when the Carroll County Board of Education meets at 2 p.m. today in the board room at the school offices, 55 N. Court St.

The meeting had been postponed because of weather, but Superintendent Brian Lockard said at least three board members will be able to attend.

"The budget presentation will be made to the board, and that's also the day they reorganize and elect a president and vice president," Dr. Lockard said.

Trash and recycling in Sykesville must wait while sanitation crews remove snow from side streets and cul-de-sacs.

The town will have no recycling collection until Wednesday. Regularly scheduled trash collection will resume for businesses Monday and residences Tuesday.

A public town meeting to address pressing issues or problems in the community is still scheduled for 7:30 p.m. today in City Hall, 17 E. Baltimore St.

However, because of weather conditions, residents should call first to make sure the meeting will be held. Information: Mayor Bob Flickinger at 756-2245.

Refuse hauler plans regular collections today

Taneytown's contract refuse hauler will collect trash on the regular schedule today, City Manager Chip Boyles said.

Westminster residents who usually are scheduled for trash collection Monday or Thursday will have trash collected today.

Residents usually scheduled for trash collection Tuesday or Friday will have trash collected Friday.
