Outlook: Midshipmen, who begin their Patriot League competition tonight, have performed erratically all season. After upsetting Rice, 64-56, at home last Thursday, they were trounced at Davidson, 87-58, on Saturday night. Navy split its two games with Bucknell last season. The Bison, with all five starters returning, boasts victories over San Francisco and Alabama. All-League center Brian Anderson (14.1) and point guard Sekou Hamer (11.8) lead the offense.

, Liberty (6-4) at UMBC (1-10)

Time: 8:30

Outlook: This game was scheduled for last week, but was postponed because of the death of sophomore G Matt Skalsky. UMBC is trying to break an eight-game losing streak. The Retrievers went 2-1 against Liberty last season, losing in the first round of the Big South tournament. Senior G Tony Thompson (16.7 ppg, 5.5 rpg) has scored in double figures in 14 straight games, one shy of the Division I school record, and 26 of 27. Kevin Bellinger averages 10.5 ppg and 8.3 rpg. Liberty has won two in a row -- both against Division III schools. It leads the series, 11-3. Junior C Peter Aluma averages 17.7 ppg and 6.9 rpg.
