Top teams to compete in Charm City Classic

Three of the country's Top 20 boys basketball teams will compete in the fifth annual First National Bank Charm City Classic at the Towson Center on Jan. 25 and 27.

Southern-B., the area's No. 1 team and the No. 5 team in this week's USA Today's Super 25 poll, will meet the country's No. 1 team -- St. Anthony's of Jersey City, N.J. -- on the 25th at 8:30 p.m. in a Northwest bracket first-round game. The other first-round con

test includes St. John's-Prospect Hall of Frederick, ranked No. 15 nationally, against St. Raymond's (N.Y.) at 5:30.

In the Southeast bracket featuring East Baltimore neighbors, No. 2 St. Frances will meet No. 9 Dunbar for the first time ever at 7 p.m. Jan. 25, and No. 3 Calvert Hall will take on Strake Jesuit of Houston at 4 p.m. The championship game for the Southeast bracket will be played Sat., Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. followed by the Northwest bracket championship at 8:30 p.m.

No. 4 Southwestern will meet No. 10 Broadneck in a preliminary game on Jan. 25 at 2:15 p.m. Thomas Johnson of Frederick, featuring Terrance Morris, who has committed to Maryland, plays Paterson Catholic of New Jersey and Tim Thomas, perhaps the country's No. 1 player, in a preliminary game on Jan. 27 at 5:30.
