Woman injured in collision on Route 26

January 04, 1996

A Westminster woman was treated and released from Carroll County General Hospital on Tuesday after an accident on Route 26.

Police said yesterday that a sports car driven by Andrea Marie Dorsey, 29, of the 15300 block of Liberty Road hit a tractor-trailer about 11 a.m. Tuesday as she tried to pass it while traveling east on Route 26 near Woodbine Road.

The tractor-trailer, driven by James Louis Perry, 42, of Woodbine, was trying to turn right into Westminster Bank and Trust, police said.

Reports said the 1995 Ford truck had moved into the left lane because of the bank's narrow entrance and the trailer's length.

Ms. Dorsey's 1995 Mazda sports car struck the truck, police said.

The car spun several times and ended up in a ditch across the road, reports said.

Police issued Ms. Dorsey a citation accusing her of passing improperly.

Mr. Perry, of the 5500 block of Woodbine Road, was not injured.

Winfield: Winfield responded to a van fire in the 1700 block of Sams Creek Road at 3:39 p.m. Tuesday. Units were out 37 minutes.
