Ice rink opening postponed second time

Because of inclement weather, the Westminster City Recreation Department again has postponed the ribbon-cutting and grand opening of the city ice rink. The new date is 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The portable rink, behind the armory on Longwell Avenue, originally was to have opened Tuesday.

The cost is $2 per day for use of the rink. Participants should bring skates. Hot drinks will be sold.

Police

Westminster: A resident of Renner Road in Keymar reported to city police Tuesday that someone took $600 worth of property from her unlocked vehicle while it was parked at the Moose Lodge on Buena Vista Drive.

Westminster: A resident of Ridge Road told city police Monday that someone broke the driver's side vent window of his car and stole $275 worth of property.

Westminster: A resident of Hanover, Pa., reported to city police Monday that someone did $165 worth of damage to his vehicle on John Street.

Fire

Westminster: Westminster and Reese responded to a call about a gas leak in a house in the 200 block of Uniontown Road. Units were out 34 minutes.
