Outlook: The Capitals, winners of four straight, are 8-2-0 in their past 10 games, including a 3-0 shutout of Hartford at USAir Arena on Dec. 30. Hartford is winless in its past eight. C Mike Eagles (broken finger) will be out three weeks and D/F Jim Johnson (shoulder strain) will be out two weeks. Both injuries occurred against Pittsburgh on Monday. The Caps also will be without RW Pat Peake, who is attending his uncle's funeral. Hartford RW Steve Rice (surgery shoulder) and LW Andrei Nikolishin (lower back problems) are out.
