Reds: Agreed to terms with SS Barry Larkin on three-year extension through 1999. Agreed to terms with P Bryan Hickerson, P Rich Rodriguez, P Jeff Shaw, C Joe Kmak, C Brook Fordyce, C Don Slaught, IF Roberto Mejia and OF Eric Davis on minor-league contracts.

Tigers: Agreed to terms with 3B Eddie Williams.


NBA: Named Jazz F Karl Malone Player of the Week and Cavaliers' Mike Fratello Coach of the Month.


Dayton: G Darnell Hoskins transferred from University of Wisconsin and joined men's basketball team.

Youngstown State: Coach Jim Tressel withdrew his name from consideration for job at Marshall.


Cowboys: Permitted defensive line coach John Blake to leave club immediately to begin duties as Oklahoma football coach; defensive coordinator Dave Campo added line duties to his responsibilities.

Falcons: Released S Kevin Ross.

49ers: Signed TE Tim Jorden. Waived FB Randy Baldwin.

Steelers: Signed WR Chris George, who once caught 23 passes in a game at Division II Glenville State and is the only receiver in NCAA history with more than 400 career receptions, to practice squad.


Blues: Recalled D Christer Olsson from AHL Worcester.

Bruins: Recalled G Scott Bailey from AHL Providence. Sent D Mark Cornforth to Providence.

Canadiens: Reassigned D Louis Bernard and LW David Grenier to ECHL Wheeling.
