Opening day of ice rink postponed

Because of inclement weather, the Westminster City Recreation Department has postponed the ribbon-cutting and grand opening at the city ice rink until 4 p.m. tomorrow.

The rink is behind the armory on Longwell Avenue. Participants should bring their own skates. Hot drinks will be sold.

The cost is $2 per day for use of the rink.

Police

Westminster: A resident of Buck Cash Drive reported to police Sunday that someone took $610 worth of property from his unlocked vehicle.

Westminster: A resident of Whispering Meadows Drive reported to police Sunday that someone took $190 worth of property from his unlocked vehicle.

Westminster: An employee of the Carroll County Times told police Sunday that someone opened a newspaper box at Main and John streets and removed $8 in coins.

Westminster: A resident of East Main Street reported to police Sunday that someone did $500 worth of damage to the left side of his vehicle while it was parked in front of his home.

Westminster: A resident of Glenvue Drive told police Saturday that someone broke the window of his car while it was parked at the Englar Business Center. He estimated the damage at $200.

Westminster: A resident of South Court Street reported to police Friday that someone broke into her car and stole $305 worth of property.

Fire

Silver Run: Pleasant Valley, Littlestown and Kingsdale responded to a chimney fire in the 4800 block of Turkey Foot Road at 9:43 p.m. Friday. Units were out for 64 minutes.

Westminster: Westminster and Reese responded to a call about smoke in a basement on Marydell Drive at 11:04 a.m. Monday. Units were out for an hour.

Westminster: Westminster responded to a trash fire on East Green Street at 7:56 p.m. Sunday. Units were out for 10 minutes.

Westminster: Westminster and Reese responded to a fire alarm in the 600 block of Friendship Road at 6 p.m. Sunday. Units were out for 50 minutes.

Westminster: Westminster responded to a fire alarm on Pennsylvania Avenue at 10:26 a.m. Sunday. Units were out for 30 minutes.

Westminster: Westminster responded to a fire alarm in the 100 block of Anchor St. at 10:31 p.m. Saturday. Units were out for 23 minutes.

Westminster: Westminster and Reese responded to a call about smoke in the house in the 800 block of Wisteria Drive at 11:54 p.m. Friday. Units were out for 35 minutes.
