Candlelight Concerts program to present the Billy Taylor Trio on Saturday at HCC

Candlelight Concerts will present the Billy Taylor Trio at 8 p.m. Saturday at Smith Theatre in Howard Community College.

Billy Taylor is a jazz pianist, composer, author, teacher and television personality who has appeared as an arts correspondent for CBS-TV's "Sunday Morning." He also will be host of the 26-part series of demonstration-discussions of the history of jazz on National Public Radio.

The ensemble features Chip Jackson on bass and drummer Steve Johns.

Tickets are $20 for general admission, $14 for seniors and $8 for full-time students.

Harper's Choice: 5400 block of Eliots Oak: A television was stolen from a home Friday or Saturday, police said.

Harper's Choice: 5800 block of Turnabout Lane: A man with a broken bottle approached a pedestrian on a bicycle path near the Tilbury Woods community and demanded cash Friday night. The two struggled, and the victim was cut, but not seriously injured. The attacker ran away without cash, police said.
