Two 14-year-old Columbia boys were beaten and robbed of $4 by a group of older youths in Columbia Thursday afternoon, Howard County police said.

The victims were treated for bruises and abrasions at Howard County General Hospital and released Thursday, Sgt. Steven Keller, a police spokesman said.

The incident began about 5:15 p.m. Thursday when six juveniles, about 14 to 17, approached the two boys near a neighborhood of townhomes and condominiums in the 10900 block of Trotting Ridge Way in Columbia's Hickory Ridge village, police said.

The older youths demanded money, pushed the younger boys to the ground, kicked and hit them and then took their cash and ran, police said.
