No. 23 Clemson (8-3) vs. Syracuse (8-3)

Site: Jacksonville, Fla.

Time: 1 p.m. today

TV: 11, 4

Line: Clemson by 2

Players to watch:

Nealon Greene, Clemson: The sophomore quarterback completed 59 percent of his passes for 1,474 yards and 10 touchdowns. He is the first Tigers quarterback to rank in the Top 25 in passing efficiency (137.6) since 1984.

Donovan McNabb, Syracuse: Not named the starter until the day of the opener, the redshirt freshman set an NCAA freshman passing efficiency record of 162.3.

Best win:

Clemson 17, North Carolina 10: The Tigers locked up the conference's third bowl bid with their sixth victory of the season, a homecoming win over the Tar Heels.

Syracuse 20, North Carolina 9: The Orangemen, expected to finish in the bottom half of the Big East, set the tone for a surprising year by overcoming a 9-0 deficit in the season opener at Chapel Hill.

Outlook: Two evenly matched teams featuring good young quarterbacks, strong running games and mediocre defenses. The difference could be Syracuse senior wide receiver Marvin Harrison, who can catch the deep ball and also is a threat on special teams (two punt returns for touchdowns).
