Here is a guide to some New Year's Eve activities in the Baltimore area. Some of these events may be postponed or canceled because of inclement weather.
BALTIMORE
A nonalcoholic party from 8:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. at the Baltimore Convention Center. Cost is $7 for adults and $5 for children age 12 and younger. Free refreshments available. Eight nonalcoholic parties under one roof. Activities include music by the Legendary Orioles, a rhythm and blues group in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame; country music by Four by Four; a game room and children's room featuring the Brownstone Puppet Theatre and the Kinderman. The event is part of Baltimore's New Year's Eve Extravaganza, presented by Mayor Kurt L. Schmoke and produced by the Baltimore Office of Promotion. New Year's Eve on Ice at the Inner Harbor Ice Rink, Rash Field. Skate from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. with a live simulcast from WMIX 106.5-FM radio station. Admission costs $12, or $8 for children younger than 10. Skate rental is $2. Call (410) 385-0675.
Live music at the harbor, from 9 p.m. to midnight at Harborplace Amphitheatre, between Harborplace's Light and Pratt Street pavilions, with a performance by the Crawdaddys. Live music with the band Fleet St. Detour is scheduled from 10 p.m. to midnight at Broadway Market Square in Fells Point. Free. Call (410) 837-4636.
The Capitol Steps political satire group at Center Stage, 700 N. Calvert St. Shows at 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m., with a midnight countdown after the 10 p.m. show. Tickets cost $30 and $40. Call (410) 332-0033.
New Year's Interfaith Prayer Service, 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. at St. Ignatius Church, 740 N. Calvert St. Prayers led by Rabbi Seymour Essrog, Imam Bashar Arafat, Vicar Bishop John Richard, Bishop Naomi DuRant, the Rev. Harry Holfelder and the Rev. Jorn de Jager. ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY
Enjoy nearly 300 performances at First Night Annapolis. Admission buttons may be purchased at most Giant Food stores and all First National Bank branches. The cost of a program guide is $2. Admission buttons are $14.
The children's programs begin at 2 p.m. Children younger than 6 will be admitted free when accompanied by an adult wearing a First Night Annapolis admission button. Citywide, evening performances begin at 6 p.m., continuing until a midnight fireworks finale at the waterfront.
Partygoers can park free at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium on Rowe Boulevard, and purchase a program and button. From there, take a shuttle bus into town. (A $1 donation is requested for the shuttle bound for town.) Shuttle buses also will travel around town (no donations requested.)

Faith Community Church will hold a New Year's Eve Watch Night Celebration at 9 p.m. The family program will include games, music and fellowship. Participants should bring snacks and drinks to share. The church is at 1306 Waugh Chapel Road in Gambrills. Call: 721-1997.
