Gunman robs High's store of $885 worth of cigarettes

A gunman robbed a High's store in Severn and escaped with $885 worth of cigarettes Tuesday, county police said.

The store's clerk told police that the man entered the store in the 7900 block of Telegraph Road shortly after 10:30 a.m.

The gunman forced the clerk to the floor and threatened to kill her if she did not follow his instructions.

The man took about 50 cartons of cigarettes from under the front and rear counters and told the clerk to open the register, police said.

He left with the cigarettes after the clerk told him she did not have a key to the cash drawer, police said.
