A Mayo woman was arrested on theft and drug charges Wednesday after she allegedly tried to steal power tools from a Kmart store, county police said.

A Mayo woman was arrested on theft and drug charges Wednesday after she allegedly tried to steal power tools from a Kmart store, county police said.
A security guard told police the woman entered the store, on Ritchie Highway at Jumpers Hole Road, shortly after 6 p.m., picked up two Black & Decker sanders and a grinder, took them to the customer service desk and demanded a refund, police said.
When a clerk refused, the woman put the items in a bag and left the store, police said. The security guard detained her for police.
When officers arrived, they searched the woman and found a metal pipe with residue that tested positive for cocaine and marijuana, police said.
Carmen Jennifer Jones, 25, of the 400 block of Lakeview Ave. was charged with theft and possession of cocaine and marijuana. She also had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court on a felony theft charge, police said.
