Two beaten during argument over drug deal

November 30, 1995

A gunman pistol-whipped a Brooklyn Park man and a Baltimore woman and stole the woman's car yesterday during an argument over a drug deal, county police said.

William K. Downing, 33, of the 4000 block of Belle Grove Road in Brooklyn Park and Johanna Norwood, 39, of the 3900 block of McDowell Lane in Baltimore were treated for head injuries at Harbor Hospital Center and released, hospital officials said.

Police said Ms. Norwood was visiting Mr. Downing on Belle Grove Road when he and another man began arguing about a drug deal.

During the argument, the man pulled a handgun and beat Mr. Downing over the head.

The man also hit Ms. Norwood with the gun and took her green 1981 Pontiac Grand Prix, Maryland tags BBL 692.

Mr. Downing identified his assailant to police, but they had not issued an arrest warrant yesterday.

Ms. Norwood's car still was missing yesterday.
