Fort Meade's 'Over-40' team to face NBA alumni squad

November 29, 1995

A squad of former National Basketball Association players and sports announcers will face Fort Meade's "Over-40" team at 7:15 p.m. today in a game that is just for fun at Murphy Field House on Zimborski Avenue on the post.

The NBA alumni team will include former Washington Bullets Phil Chenier and Mike Riordan, former Boston Celtic Sam Jones and sports announcer Mel Proctor.

Fort Meade's "Over-40" team, which last year beat the NBA alumni, 67-60, is made up of soldiers and others who work at the base. Chris Ely of WJZ-TV Channel 13 is scheduled to announce the game.

Admission is free. Spectators can get players' autographs and meet Baltimore Stallions cheerleaders and Hoops, the Bullets mascot. They also can compete in a halftime "Shoot for the Loot," in which they can win cash, and register for door prizes, including two tickets to Miami to see the Bullets play the Heat.
