Maryland's governor gives some smoke-free news

Dear Ann Landers: It makes me sick that the tobacco industry claims people have "the right to smoke." Often, it's not a matter of choice. These people are hooked. Cigarette smoking is an addiction.

2 How can we say no without sounding ungenerous?

Dear New York: Simply say, "So many close friends and family members have asked that we've decided to say no to everyone. We hope you understand." P.S.: Don't feel guilty. This is a pretty nervy request.
