Outlook: The Eagles have four freshmen, two sophomores who were academically ineligible last season and three transfers, and Mitchell said "my tolerance to mistakes has to be greater." Allen Watson started at the point when Coppin State used a three-guard rotation last year, and fellow senior Kyle Locke sounds content with being a role player again. They'll show Mitchell's way to some newcomers who are rusty but talented. The nonconference schedule isn't as rigorous as it has been, but the MEAC is the focus. Coppin State was 47-1 in the conference over the past three regular seasons and has the nation's longest home winning streak, 30 games, but those marks may suffer while the Eagles grow. Mitchell probably will shuffle the starting lineup into February, but by then, the Eagles should be ready to challenge favored South Carolina State in the MEAC tournament.
