Icy conditions Friday caused a Howard County police officer to lose control of his patrol car, which spun around several times and hit a concrete barrier twice, county police said.

Pfc. Ricky Johnson of the department's patrol division was treated at Howard County General Hospital and released.

The accident occurred on the southbound side of U.S. 29, south of Frederick Road, police said. No other vehicle was involved.
