Hunters warned to stay off tracks

Hunting along Maryland Midland Railway Inc. tracks is illegal, state Natural Resources Police are warning hunters as the Saturday opening of deer season approaches.

In the wake of increasing vandalism of lights and equipment along the tracks that stretch from Emory Grove to Highfield, Maryland Midland officials notified Natural Resources Police that one has written permission to hunt on company property.

Police said a hunter can be fined up to $1,000 for a violation.
