Dinners offered to needy, homeless

The Baltimore Convention Center was the site of the Baltimore Goodwill Industries' 40th annual Thanksgiving Dinner yesterday for more than 2,100 needy and homeless persons.

Here is a list of free Thanksgiving dinners offered in the area today for the needy and homeless:

BALTIMORE CITY

Bea Gaddy will serve Thanksgiving meals at Dunbar Senior High School, Orleans and Caroline streets. Meals are from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Organizers are expecting to feed double or triple the number of people who were served last year, when about 63,220 meals were served.

Other sites include:

Beans and Bread, 402 S. Bond St., from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Brown's Memorial Church, 3215 W. Belvedere Ave., from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

City Temple, Eutaw Place and Dolphin Street, from noon to 4 p.m.

Church on the Rock, 100 E. Patapsco Ave., from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Grace and Hope Mission, 4 S. Gay St., at 4 p.m.

Helping Up Mission, 1029 E. Baltimore St. from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Our Daily Bread, 411 Cathedral St., from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Providence Baptist Church, 1401 Pennsylvania Ave. will begin serving at 11:30 a.m.

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY

Harundale Presbyterian Church, 1020 Eastway, Glen Burnie, will serve between 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. More than 100 people have signed up, but the church can feed more.

Robinwood, Tyler Avenue, Annapolis, will serve from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Five hundred people can be served.

St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 7859 Tick Neck Road, Pasadena, will serve from noon to 2 p.m. The church has enough food to feed 300 to 400 people.

BALTIMORE COUNTY

Seniors can get a free Thanksgiving meal at these centers: Parkville, 8601 Harford Road; Pikesville, 1301 Reisterstown Road; Catonsville, 501 N. Rolling Road; and At Ease, 7401 Holabird Ave. in Essex.

Christ the King Church, 335 Sollers Point Road, Dundalk, will serve meals from noon to 5 p.m.

Freezing Weather Shelter, 9100 Franklin Square Drive, Essex and Banneker Center at Main Street and Wesley Road, Catonsville are open from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. and will serve dinner.

Rock Church, 1607 Cromwell Bridge Road, Baltimore, will have an International Students dinner at 5 p.m. for foreign college students.

St. Clare's Catholic Church, 714 Myrth Ave., Essex, will offer its Essex Hot Meal from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. tomorrow in church hall.

CARROLL COUNTY

Shepherd Staff will serve at St. John's Catholic School, Monroe Street, Westminster from noon to 3 p.m. Organizers expect to serve 300 people and have enough dinners for 400.

HARFORD COUNTY

Havre De Grace High School, 700 Congress Ave., Havre De Grace, is serving meals from noon to 3 p.m. The high school student service group S.M.I.L.E.S. is sponsoring the event.
